Hollins students love their school. Many become very sentimental and enthusiastic in expressing this. If you are looking for a school that can evoke that kind of feeling, Hollins might very well be what you’re looking for. Some fear that Hollins might not fare well as single-sex institutions lose popularity. This inspires many students to sing the praises of Hollins so that more women will give the University a chance. Due in large part to its devoted alumnae recruiting system, Hollins remains poised to succeed in the future. Students also express the need to reach more minority students, as the student body is overwhelmingly white.

When it comes to stimulating classes, caring professors, interesting students, and beautiful surroundings, Hollins has it made. Students have a lot of say in what and how much they want to put into their educations. If flexibility and individuality are important to you, you’ll appreciate the academic environment. If you crave academic structure, Hollins might not provide you with what you are looking for. Hollins can be a party school when it wants to be, but the focus quickly shifts back to academics on Monday morning. However, the party atmosphere is unlike what you would find at most other universities. If you are looking to mingle with a lot of guys, you certainly won’t find that here. Likewise, if you are looking for a college town with bustling student nightlife, you won’t find that either. When it comes to the social scene, expect the unexpected.
