Tell It Like It Is
If Birmingham Southern College were a movie, it would be lauded with praise by its critics and on the road to an Oscar. Everyone has something good to say about BSC. The school was profiled in Loren Pope’s “40 Colleges That Change Lives.” According to The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, it also holds the distinction of being one of only six baccalaureate-liberal arts institutions in the country to hold both AACSB International—The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business accreditation and the designation of Phi Beta Kappa.
But what do students have to say?
“I came all the way from New friggin’ Jersey to be here. I love it. The people here are so incredibly nice. The school is nice. Everything is nice. It’s a little bubble of a community, but let’s face it, it’s a happy bubble.”
“You learn to love everything about what you ‘hate.’ The dorms can be the worst place in the world at times, but you learn to love them because of the people you meet and the memories you make while you are there.”
If you enjoy the southern charm of Alabama humidity, BSC might be for you.
“Birmingham is your typical Southern city. It’s hot during the summer and usually mild in the winter, with the occasional snowstorm. Any hint of snow will close down the entire city, though, so don’t worry too much about having to walk through snowstorms to class.”
“Don’t bring a lot of sweaters for winter unless you’re extremely cold-natured because it does not get that cold in Alabama.”
