Hofstra University Students
Tell It Like It Is
Thinking about going to Hofstra? The College Prowler guidebook to Hofstra gives you the real deal on the things you need to know to be an insider before you even step foot on the campus!
Forget studying in the library at Hofstra.
For those students looking for somewhere to study besides the deafeningly dull library or in the constantly noisy dorm room, one of the main eateries, Café Bistro, has an expansive dining room, and most students never make their way towards the back. Several comfortable booths are available while you learn and dine at the same time.
And if you have a car, bring it.
“If you have a car, there are plenty of things to do locally that don’t even need to involve drunken nights at sleazy bars. There are lots of things to do in Long Island during the day and at night, but if you don’t have a car, your options are very limited pretty much to the mall and meat-market bars.”
“If there’s one thing you should do, it’s to check out the observation window in the swimming pool. It’s the weirdest thing I’ve ever seen in my life.”
When you go out, if you’re not looking to spend a lot of money, odds are you’re going to have to venture a little ways from campus. Once you find a good bar in one of the local towns, you’ll find yourself paying much less for a drink. Just make sure you take a cab home or designate a driver. The bars within walking distance from campus can get away with charging more because they know students will go there out of convenience.
