Most people at Haverford are probably pretty nice. But once a year, there’s cause for everyone to be a bit devilish. At the annual “Screw Your Roommate” Dance, students conspire to arrange interesting and potentially awkward blind dates. Pretty diabolical for a school founded by the Society of Friends, right? Consider yourself warned.

And don’t make the same culinary faux pas presidential candidate John Kerry made during a 2004 campaign stop in Philadelphia. He ordered a cheesesteak made with Swiss cheese. (Philadelphia cheesesteaks are typically made with Cheese Wiz.)

Fashion advice:
Haverford is definitely a casual school, which is a positive for most who attend—better than watching some self-enraptured Bryn Mawr girl trip in heels and then pretend like nothing happened. Trust me.

Social atmosphere:
“What’s remarkable is how easy everyone is.”

Some female students believe in and have met many guys that fit the stereotype of the “Haver-male” who is responsible for a certain percentage of the nation’s population of short people. However, like the women here, men are of all sorts of varieties: athletic, hairy-chested, gentlemanly, and named Dan.

So, even if you're not named Dan, buy the Haverford guide.
