Connecticut College Students
Tell It Like It Is

Do you know what skank tank refers to, where the Cro is, or what TNE stands for? Well, you’ve come to the right place. Skank tanks are the uniforms for girls at parties, the Cro is the Crosier Williams Student Center, and TNE stands for Thursday Night Events. There’s tons more to the inside scoop of Connecticut College.

Conn has self-scheduled finals. This means that students choose from a list of available times and then take their final exams unproctored. Along with this, students love the research opportunities, funded summer internships, and the emphasis on conservations and ecology.

Wanna fit in?
  • Don’t buy camel dolls/decorations with two humps, because the official Connecticut mascot has only one hump.
  • Dress preppy. At times, it feels like J.Crew and Abercrombie and Fitch are the school’s mandatory uniform.
  • Go to soccer games. Even on a rainy day, students can catch the game from their windows.
  • Take part in the traditions: Festivus (yes, like Seinfeld, it’s for the rest of us), FishBowl (an all-night senior party with drinking and streaking), and Painting the Tunnels (painting the heating walkways, for those cold months, with advertisements).
These kids didn’t find out what life at the College was really like before they made their decision:

“I don’t really fit in at Conn, but I know so many kids that love it more than anything. I think I would have been happier at a bigger school.”

"Personally, I should have gone to school in Washington, DC, and I regret not doing so.”

Don’t get yourself into this situation.
