I usually cram for all of my tests; that is why I don’t need to study very often. It can get tiresome looking over my notes every single day, and by the time tests come, I usually forget everything. I have found studying all at one time helps me clearly remember the material.

Overall Experience

St. John's - Jamaica, NY

St. John’s has its ups and downs, but most students agree, sometimes reluctantly, that the bad outweigh the good. Some argue that with the high tuition cost, students should receive better student services and facilities. The school’s motto is, “We are St. John’s,” but does the administration listen when students speak? They need more dorm rooms, better computers, better safety and security, and more people ready to help them instead of giving them the run around or transferring their calls to someone else. These things are not luxuries, but rather necessities to keep the students and the institution running smoothly.

Going to St. John’s is a good experience, and the name only seems to impress many people, which is a good trademark to use in the workforce. (What’s in a name? Apparently a lot if that name is St. John’s.) The overwhelming majority of teachers care about their students and know what they were teaching. Check out St. John’s extensively before attending to see if it can meet your needs, especially monetary wise. In 1870, when St. John’s was founded by the Vincentian Community, it was supposed to be an answer for the poor students who couldn’t afford schooling; now many feel SJU is making the students poor. The costs are going up each year, but the financial aid is basically staying the same, making it hard for students to attend because of the lack of funding. Explore it for yourself. There’s plenty to enjoy and benefit from, but don’t get caught up in hype.
