My teachers are very passionate about their work and like to communicate with students in and out of the classroom. Some of my classes have been interesting, but several have been quite dull.

Most students who come to Denison absolutely love it. While some students find it a mediocre experience, very few would say they hate it. The quality of education is exceptional, and that alone is enough to convince some students that Denison is the place where they belong. A lot of people also fall in love with the intimate atmosphere that seems to pervade the University. Not only do you live among your peers, but most people are also friends with their professors, which results in a feeling of belonging. No one can deny that being good-naturedly teased by their professor doesn’t engender feelings of acceptance. A lot of students also value the safety of the campus. Those students that are unhappy with Denison are generally unhappy with the social scene, lack of diversity, or the exceptional work load. However, your happiness at college is largely a choice. No matter where you go, you will find problems, and you’ll deal with them. Nowhere is perfect.
No matter how fed-up students may get sometimes, no one can claim that the academic opportunities at Denison aren’t amazing, and that the atmosphere isn’t unique. Those that want wild college years can find them, and those that don’t can find that, too. The atmosphere is far from that of a big city, and that is a large portion of Denison’s appeal. It may not be a wild metropolis, but it is exciting in its own way.

"I like it here. I recognize that there are some problems, but all in all, I like the people I have to deal with most of the time, and that makes all the difference in the world."

"Sometimes, I wish I were somewhere else. Denison has screwed over a lot of students. However, the financial aid has made me happy, and I’ve met a lot of nice people; even though they were hard to find. Overall, I’m pretty happy with where I am right now."

"It’s alright. Sometimes I’d rather be elsewhere, but it’s better than being home."

"Socially, I had problems with Denison life. I found it to be very conservative and elitist. It took me a year and a half to find decent friends. I wanted to transfer really bad. However, once I got into my major courses, I realized just how wonderful the education at Denison was, and I stayed. And now that I’ve found people I enjoy being around, I wouldn’t leave Denison for the world!"

"I have had a good experience so far. Socially, I might have done a few things differently this past year, and if I had to do it all over again I might have joined a fraternity, but all considered, I have had a good experience. I do not wish I was anywhere else, I just wish the sun would come out more."
