I am a freshman housed in a quad in botetourt (said to be the worst housing you can get) but it's really not as bad as I thought it would be. The awesome people and sense of family within the dorms compensates any of te negatives. Plus, it's really easy to get air-conditioning even if you are stuck with a non- air conditioned room!

Overall Experience
William & Mary -
Williamsburg, VA

To say the least, William & Mary students have a strong affection for their school. They love the sense of history, the size, the faculty, and their fellow students. You hardly ever hear anyone expressing regret for choosing William & Mary. Alumni come back year after year and wish they could attend college there all over again. Williamsburg may not be a bustling hub of activity, but the students form their own community that cannot be beat.
W&M is academically challenging for sure, but students know all of that hard work is going to add up to a quality education. Most students agree that William & Mary is as close to perfect as they could hope for.

"William & Mary is an amazing school. I have met so many new people and learned so much in my time here. Somehow, I lucked out and picked a school that was perfect for me."

"I’m very happy with my school. The only thing I’d do differently is get involved in more activities. There are so many organizations on campus to participate in, you should definitely look around for what interests you and join in. I don’t think I would have fit in anywhere else."

"My overall experience of school has been wonderful. There were good parts and bad parts, but such is life, you know? I’ve never once wished I had gone somewhere else. The only time I even came close to wishing I were somewhere else was right in the beginning of freshman year when I was homesick, and that had nothing to do with the school; I just missed my family and friends. The South takes a little bit of getting used to, but I had a great time at W&M. It’s a good place to spend four years, and I’m going to miss it. I already miss my friends a lot, and I’ve only been gone two weeks!"

"I have loved my experience here so far. I couldn’t imagine having a much better time at college. Although it is very academically challenging here, there are many social opportunities. With so much to offer, I think that anyone would be able to find their own niche at William & Mary."

"I personally love the school. Sometimes I wonder if I should have gone to a bigger school (like UVA), but I feel like at W&M, I make more of a difference in the community. I think I stand out more as an individual. I have great relationships with most of my professors and find that that helps a lot academically. I’ve made a lot of great, quality friends that I wouldn’t give up for anything. This school is really what you make of it. It doesn’t mold you like other schools do—it helps you mold yourself and allows you to grow as an individual."
