Overall Experience
Ball State -
Muncie, IN
Ask a Ball State student, and they’ll tell you they’re happy to be where they are. Sure, there’s Parking Services to deal with, UPD crack-downs, and a ban on kegs, but these drawbacks pale when compared to the friends and memories students say they’ve acquired at BSU. Although recent policies threaten to end the party-school reputation, Ball State still has a strong social scene that continues to build friendships most students would be unwilling to give up.
Depending on your major, courses can be extremely trying. Be prepared for some late nights—especially if you’re interested in architecture, nursing, or journalism as a major. Whatever your field of study, it is important to focus and remember what you’re here for.

"I had several fantastic choices for schools, but this is a great community. It may seem like a big campus, but it’s easy to find a niche."

"It has the best program for my major. Ball State is everything I need."

"I went to Ball State because my family could handle the cost. I’m glad I ended up here. I’ve realized you won’t get lost in the sea here."

"I really like the size of the school. It’s perfect for me. You can feasibly walk anywhere on campus, and the University really tries to provide entertainment for the students."

"I feel that, had I attended IU, I might have better cultural and social opportunities, but generally, I feel that Ball State is a good school that has a lot to offer. Several of its academic programs are ranked among the top in the nation. Which major program you wish to pursue should factor heavily in your decision whether or not to come to BSU. I would definitely choose BSU over any smaller or private institution, and it automatically wins out over Purdue for me because of the female factor."
