Kenyon College Students Tell It Like It Is
When you first step on to Kenyon's campus, a student might tell you you've entered the Gates of Hell . . . but don't be scared! This is how Kenyon students in-the-know refer to the two stone pillars that mark the entrance to south campus. Worried you'll be caught off guard when it comes to other insider information about Kenyon? Buy the College Prowler guidebook and get the real deal straight from the students!
How does one describe the atmosphere of Kenyon College? If you like things that are quaint and pretty, then you will be set at Kenyon. Apple picking, haunted houses, blue grass festivals, and homemade pie can all be found within a 30-minute drive of Kenyon.
Other aspects at Kenyon are described as typical.
'It's a typical college dining service. Not great, but not disgusting. As far as AVI Foodsystems goes, it was good for the first few weeks, but then it got old.'
Or just okay.
'Housing is okay. Bexley, New Apartments, and Aclands, which are upperclass housing, are a lot nicer than the dorms, which are very antiquated.'
But mostly, better suited for those who won't want or miss a big-city atmosphere.
'The nightlife at Kenyon, if you like frat parties, is passable, or so I've heard. If you enjoy hanging out with friends, it's nirvana. There is enough to do if you don't need fast-paced big city life. The Grille is sufficient, except for its distinct resemblance to a nasty basement. I personally am for the abolition of fraternities on campus, so I can't really comment on frat parties.'
Not all students who start their education at Kenyon finish their education at Kenyon. Students who transfer after their freshman year are the ones who thought they could force themselves to like what Kenyon is.
But the happiest students at Kenyon are the ones that knew they were going to a small school in the cornfields and looked forward to it anyway.
'I believe everyone at Kenyon has a 'Kenyon moment' that turns a switch and makes you truly appreciate Kenyon for all its good and bad aspects, because with everything considered, it is a one-of-a-kind and wonderful place.'
Find out if Kenyon has something for you, straight from the students' mouths. Visiting campus isn't enough.

The College Prowler Process
While writing our series of college guides, we felt it was critical that our content was unbiased and unaffiliated with any college or university. By hiring current students as authors, we strive to create college guides that truly represent each campus. Our guides cover both the good and the bad, and whether survey responses point to recurring trends or varying opinions, these sentiments are directly and proportionally expressed through our guides.
From the very beginning, student writers gather the most up-to-date stats, facts, and inside information on their colleges. They fill each section with student quotes and summarize the findings in editorial reviews. In addition, each school receives a collection of letter grades (A through F) that reflect student opinion. Once a guide is written, additional college students serve as editors and check for accuracy even more extensively. This same process is applied to all of the 258 colleges and universities College Prowler currently covers. Each guide is the result of endless student contributions, hundreds of pages of research and writing, and countless hours of hard work. All of this has led to the creation of a student information network that stretches across the nation. It’s no easy accomplishment, but it’s the reason that our guides are such a great resource.
